Andrew's Commonplace Essay
For my Commonplace essay, I will attempt to approach capital punishment and the stigma that follows it to this day. In recent years, several states have outlawed the execution of prisoners, but this has done little to settle the debate. In this essay, both sides of the issue will be analyzed and reviewed in order to correctly understand the use of capital punishment and the overall legal and ethical ramifications of the issue.
Growing up in Texas, I was surrounded by the notion that capital punishment belongs in the legal system in order to punish former killers and dissuade future ones. Capital punishment, as a whole, is viewed as an acceptable "last resort".
However, much of the nation does not agree with this stance, and often for valid and respectable reasons. Understanding the overall approval and ideals behind the death penalty will help form a persuasive opinion about the subject.

First
I'm a complete novice to this. All I know is that blogging rhymes with jogging, and I hate the latter.
